Eddie Malphrus officiating. Burial will be in Lightening Ridge Cemetery. He died July 20, 2003, at Mercy Memorial in Ardmore. He was born May 3, 1929, in Sulphur to Mary Ella (Kephard) and James Joseph Ward. He graduated from Hickory High School in 1947. He lived and worked in the Sulphur area all his life. He married Angie Martin on May 28, 1983, in Timbo, Ark. Ward loved his yard, garden, cattle, horses and playing dominoes. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Odom. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Glenda Kay Mathews, Davis and Mary Frances Hunt, Shawnee; a stepson, Gerald Fender, Sidney, Australia; three sisters, Helen Rutherford, Sulphur, Racheal Beaver, Mountain Home, Ark., and Mary Jo Hill, Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, James Ward, Rome, Ga.; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Elmo Shaw, Steve Saunders, Clifford Hughes, Nathan Hicks, Alvin Tidwell and Charlie Tingle.
