The family had visitation Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home in Ada. He died August 9, 2003 at Carondelet Manor, Kansas City, Mo. He was born April 15, 1907 at Meeker to William Arch and Della Belle Hardy Young. He lived most of his life in the Ada-Holdenville areas and graduated from Mill Creek High School and University of Oklahoma. During most of his working career, he was self-employeed, operating a Studebaker-Packard dealership as Spec Young Motor Company, and retired from John Gibbs Motor Company, Holdenville. He was active in the Kiwanis Club in both Ada and Holdenville for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hardy Young, and a niece, Marianne Young Epperson. He was eulogized by his son, William A. Young, Hardy Patton, John Gibbs and Jenny Gluckman McCracken. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Madge Marie Lowmiller Young; a son, William Young and wife, Kathleen, Kansas City; a sister, Iva Anna Young Roberts, Mill Creek; and two nieces, Marjorie Sue Roberts Patton and Patricia Jean Roberts, Mill Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities Hospice Program, 301 E. Armour Blvd. #620, Kansas City, MO 64111.
