MAKINNEY Ben V. Makinney The graveside service for Ben V. Makinney will be at 1 p.m. today at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. Mr. Makinney, 82, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (Jan. 20, 2002) at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Grants Pass. He was born July 17, 1919, in Muskogee, Okla. He moved to Grants Pass in 1990 from Pasadena, Calif. On Sept. 11, 1991, in Reno, Nev., he married Phyllis Sullivan, who survives. Mr. Makinney was an engineer with Rockwell Corporation in Southern California before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Michael, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mark, London; a daughter, Katherine Makinney, Culver City, Calif.; a stepson, Richard Strub, Dearborn, Mich.; and a stepdaughter, Joyce Brown, Indianapolis.
