Ray William I. Ray, 77, of Grants Pass, died Friday (July 20, 2001) at his home. A private service will be held. He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Muskogee, Okla. On April 6, 1975, in Reno, Nev., he married Dorothy "Dotti" Mason, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass from Red Bluff, Calif., in 1979. Mr. Ray worked in auto sales for Bartles/McKee, a now-defunct Grants Pass dealership, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Grants Pass Elks Lodge. Mr. Ray enjoyed boating, camping, gardening and growing blackberries. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Bill Jr., San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Patti Jarmin, Sparks, Nev.; three stepsons, Neal Ray, Oroville, Calif., and Richard and Michael Napier, both in Oklahoma; two sisters, Darlene Drake, Los Banos, Calif., and Florene Williams, Visalia, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
