D. Walkingstick: My name is Charlotte Adair; I was enrolled by the Dawes Commission under the name of Charlotte Adair, 1856; my father's name was Will Hummingbird; my father Cherokee name was Wah-la-lee; my mother's English name was Polly Hummingbird; her Cherokee name was Wah-lee Wah-la-lee; my mother's maiden name was Polly Hughes; my father was born in Going Snake District and my mother came from the old nation in the East; my grandparents on my father's side were Old Settlers. I claim this emigrant money through my mother only; both of my parents were full blood Cherokees; my grandparents on my father's side were living in the Ind. Terr. at the time of the emigration; my mother came to the Ind. Terr. at the time of the emigration of the Cherokees; my mother's father's name was Holly Hughes; my mother's mother's name was Tah-ya-nih; my grandparents on my mother's side were born in the old nation in the East and came to the Ind. Terr. at the time of the emigration; both I and the ancestors through whom I claim have always been with the Cherokees; my mother and her parents were enrolled in 1851 in either Going Snake or Flint District; I had no brother and sisters old enough to be enrolled; I don't know under what name my mother was enrolled; I was enrolled and drew the Strip payment in 1894; my father had a sister by the name of Lydia Hummingbird; she was enrolled in 1851 and I think it was in Going Snake District; my father drew emigrant money in 1852, but my mother did not draw any; (See 124 Going Snake and 634 Going Snake) Signed Charlotte Adair X Mark Copied from Application of Charlotte Adair.
