Submitted by: Kathy Pitts katherynpitts@myfamily.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- App. Misc. Ben F. Walkingstick, being duly sworn, deposes and says: My name is Ben F. Walkingstick. My age is 27 years. I was born and raised in Going Snake District. I got the strip payment. I was enrolled by the Dawes Commission, Cherokee Roll #16182. I have receipt card No. 12802, but am not the Ben Walkingstick who filed application No. 12802, as parents and grandparents named therein do not correspond to mine. There was another Ben Walkingstick who died about 6 weeks ago. We had the same post-office address and often got each other's mail. He was a cousin of mine. My mother was Sallie Walkingstick; her name was Bean before marriage. She is dead; died about two years ago. I do not know just how old she would be, but do not think it would be 60. Nancy Jane Bean was a sister of my mother's ; she married Edward Walkingstick. William Bean was my mother's brother; he lived in Ooo-wee-sooo-wee District and was younger than my mother. Do not think he would be 60 years old. My mother got her blood from her mother Lydia Bean. She lived in Going Snake District and was born back in the old country and came here with the Emigrants. I could not say whether she had any sisters and brothers. I can't name any of my relatives on the Bean side. I don't know her father. (712 G. S. Lydia Bean.) My mother's father was William Bean. Lived in Going Snake District. One of his brothers was Flint Walkingstick; he is not 60 years old. He is dead. jennie Walkingstick; she is not 60. Richard Ketcher, a half-brother, is 60 years old. Susan Walkingstick is my father's mother. (502 G. S.-Susan and Edward.) My father's father was named Ben Walkingstick. I don't think he was living in 1851. He died before my grand- mother. I have seen her. I can't name any brothers and sisters of my grandfather. Edward is living, my father. My grandmother has been dead a year and filed an application. I don't know whether they are enrolled in 1851. My mother and father both drew money; they said it was Emigrant money. My name is Benja- min F. Walkingstick. I don't know whether my people ever as- sociated with any other tribe other than the Cherokees. I don't know the number of the other application. Applicaion for minor children #12802 is for my minor children. Signature of Witness is Ben Walkingstick Subscribed and sworn to before me at Stilwell, Oklahoma, this 24th day of September 1908. Ass't to Special Commissioner of the Court of Claims. Signed A.S. Manne 3164. Copied from Application. Kathy Pitts
