I claim my Indian descent through my mother., My father is a full blooded white man and so is my husband. My mother claimed through her father. Think it was James Daugherty. Am not certain about the first name, however. My mother was born in 1813 and died in 1904. My mother was born in Georgia. I supppose that my grandfather was born and raised in Georgia too. My mother left Georgia and went to Oklahoma and stayed there a while. This was long before I was born. My mother came with the Indians when they came west. She was then married to her first husband, Ledbetter. He was a white man. She was in Oklahoma close to the Washington Co., Ark. line. Then she moved to Texas in 1845. She never lived with the Indians after she came to Texas. I suppose that she had lived witht the Indians as a member of the tribe there in Oklahoma. My grandfather died in Georgia before they ever came west. My mother had brothers and sisters as follows: Charles Dougherty, Littleton (died when small)-a sister named Susan, I think, who married a Palmer. Another sister named Elizabeth (I don't know who she married). A brother named Benjamin Douigherty, He died in Denton County, Texas about 15 years ago. She had another sister named Mary whom they called Polly, and another named Francis and she married a man named Morris. My mother was on the Old Settler roll. She was on the roll of 1851-that is the Old Settler roll that she was on. Don't know whether she was on the roll of 1835. If she was it would hve been under the name of Ledbetter. She was married to my father in 1845. She was on the 1851 roll under the name of Horn. I did not make application to the Dawes Commission. James T. Horn was my half-brother on my father's side. He got his Indian blood from his mother. Jeremiah is a brother to James T. and William T. Horn is another brother. There is another named John, a full sister on my mother's side. Sarah was another half-sister on my mother's side and a full sister to Alethe. Caroline is myself and Ruth is my own sister. Margaret is the wife of William T. Cynthia and Martha Emily are their children. My mother received money in 1851 but don't know how much. She got money for all of us. My brother G. W. Horn, has a son T. L. Horn who has filed application 33584." > Signed Cynthia E. McNeil, McKinney, Texas August 31, 1908 Note: Should read Cynthia Caroline McNeil nee Horn b.
