Applicant’s father, Allen Ratley, was enrolled in 1851, in Illinois District # 74, by Drennen. See Misc. Test. (John McLain) P. 2965 Misc. Testimony P. 2965 App. # 9790-1963-John McLain “My name is John McLain. My age is 43 years old. I was born in the Choctaw Nation. I now live in Sequoyah District and have lived in this District most of all my life. I was enrolled by the Dawes Commission, Cherokee Roll 19962. I got the bread and strip money. I get my blood from my mother who is dead. She died when I was a small child. I suppose she was 30 or more, when she died. She was living in this District. My folks went to the Choctaw Nation in the time of the war. My mother was born in the old nation in the East. I don’t know just when she came out here. My mother had Eastern Cherokee Indian blood. I don’t know whether she was enrolled in 1851. My mother’s name was Polly McLean nee Ratley. Her brother was Wallace Ratley. My mother lived in Illinois District. I don’t know when she was married. They are on the Rolls. (Look on 1851 Roll) She got her blood from her father, Allen Ratley. He lived in Illinois District. I don’t know any brothers and sister of Allen Ratley. He died a long time ago. Since 1860. Fannie Cummins is a relative of the Witness but he doesn’t know the exact relationship. She is dead. I don’t know Maggie Brown. I don’t know Charley Ratley. I don’t know Rosa Chastain. Evans Cummins is some relation. She is an adopted citizen. Wallace Ratley is my uncle. Wallace Thornton is also a relative. My grandfather was Wallace Thornton’s mother’s uncle. # 1962 and 1963 should probably be grouped together. Maggie Cummins married a Brown. Her grandparents were Luke Tiner. Do not know grandmother. Her mother’s name was Tiner. Rob Cummins was her father.
