Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Kathy Pitts October 08, 2002 ************************************************************************ IN THE COUNTY COURT OF PUSHMATAHA COUNTY OKLAHOMA IN THE MATTER OF THE ESTATE OF MARY JAN BOHANAN, DECEASED PETITION TO THE HONORABLE COUNTY COURT OF SAID COUNTY: Your Petitioner, BEASON GRANTHAM would respectfully show that MARY JAN BOHANAN was a member of the Choctaw Tribe of Indians duly enrolled as such opposite Roll No. 376, Minor Choctaw Rolls. That on or about the ________day of _________ 1905, the said MARY JAN BOHANAN departed this life intestate in McCurtain County, State of Oklahoma, but at the time it was alleged that there was an administration on her estate pending in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma. That at the time of her death, she left surviving her as her sole and only heirs, Sampson Bohanan, her father; and ELIZA WINSHIP, her mother. That under and by virtue of the active Congress, approved May 27, 1908 the restriction upon the alienation of the land of the said MARY JAN BOHANAN were removed at her death. That at the time of the death of the said MARY JAN BOHANAN, she was the owner in fee simple of the following described lands to-wit: The NE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Section 5 and NW 1/4 of NE 1/4 and E 1/2 of NW 1/4 of Section 7, Township 6 South, Range 4 West in Jefferson County, Oklahoma. That on the 23rd day of January, 1914, the said SAMPSON BOHANAN and ELIZA WINSHIP executed to BEASON GRANTHAM their warranty deed conveying to the said BEASON GRANTHEM all of the right, title and interest of the said SAMPSON BOHANAN and ELIZA WINSHIP in and to the above described land; which deed was duly approved by the County Court of McCurtain County, State of Oklahoma, the county where said deceased lived at the time of her death. The petitioner prays that this court make an order approving said deed by reason of the fact that administration on said deceased's estate was pending in this county at the time of her death. Pruet his attorneys IN THE COUNTY COURT OF PUSHMATAHA COUNTY OKLAHOMA IN THE MATTER OF THE APPROVAL OF DEED TO THE ALLOTMENT OF MARY JAN BOHANAN, DECEASED ORDER OF APPROVAL Nov, on this 11th day of September, 1923 the above cause came on to be heard and the court being well and sufficiently advised thus finds: That MARY JAN BOHANAN was a full blood minor Choctaw Indian and duly enrolled as such, opposite Roll No. 376, Minor Choctaw Roll. That on or about the ____day of _________ 1905 the said MARY JAN BOHANAN departed her life intestate in McCurtain County, State of Oklahoma; that after her death, an administrator was appointed of her estate in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma and there was allotted in her name the said administrator among other lands the NE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 Section 5, and NW 1/4 of NE 1/4 and E 1/2 of NW 1/4 of Section 7, Township 6 South, Range 4 West, in Jefferson County, Oklahoma. That said MARY JAN BOHANAN left as her sole and only heirs of the said estate, her father, SAMPSON BOHANAN; and her mother, ELIZA WINSHIP. That on the 23rd day of January, 1914, the said SAMPSON BOHANAN and ELIZA WINSHIP executed to BEASON GRANTHAM their warranty deed conveying to the said BEASON GRANTHAM all of their right, title, and interest in and to the above described lands. Therefore, it is by the court ordered, adjudged and decreed, that the said deed above described which is presented in open court be, and the same is hereby approved and confirmed and declared to be in all things legal and valid. signed: Geo.
