David LONG, Sr. was born May 9, 1915, in Hughes County and was a resident there most of his life, although he lived at the time of his death at Atoka. He died September 1, 1982, in the Deaconess Hospital of Oklahoma City. He was a minister of the United Methodist Church and served as District Superintendent of the S.E. District of the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference. Services were held on September 4, 1982, at Salt Creek Methodist Church in Holdenville. Services were officiated by Rev. J. H. ROBISON, Rev. Forbis DURANT, Rev. Thomas ROUGHFACE, and Rev. Pat FREEMAN. Interment was at the family cemetery. He is survived by his wife Eloise LONG of the home; a son, Rev. David LONG, Jr. of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Betsy LONG and Barbara LONG, both of Oklahoma City; one sister, Melissa DEERE of Holdenville, and a foster sister, Nancy BEAVER; and many relatives and friends.
