Roy BIGPOND was born August 11, 1923, in Mounds. He died in March 1996. No day of death was given. Funeral services were held March 13 at Picket Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Rev. George MILLER and Rev. Alvin DEERE officiated. No information was given on the place of interment. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. He served as chair of the Ordained Ministers Association and Retired United Methodist Senior Citizens. He had pastored many churches. He was preceded in death by his son, Roy BIGPOND, Jr.; a sister, Alice ROACH; and a brother, Matthew TIGER. He was survived by his wife, Harriet BIGPOND of the home; three sons, Gene BIGPOND of Sapulpa, Negiel BIGPOND of Mounds, and Tim BIGPOND of Preston; a daughter, Pauline HARJO of Phoenix; two sisters, Ruth OLNEY of Toppenish, WA, and Phyllis BIGPOND of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
