He died February 9, 1996, at his home in Eufaula. Funeral services were held February 9 (?) at the Merritt Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Amos BEAN and Rev. Raymond BEAVER officiating. Pallbearers were Clem LEWIS, Morris LEWIS, Gene MCGIRT, Kenneth TIGER, and Gary WALKER. Honorary pallbearers were Gene BURRIS, David FRANCIS, Robert FRANCIS, Mike MCGIRT, and John Mark TIGER. Interment was in the Sulphur family cemetery. He was a civil service worker and a member of West Eufaula Baptist Church. He was the son of James and Jennie Grayson SULPHUR, both deceased. Also preceded him in death were his wife, Elanor Brown SULPHUR; a son, Emanuel SULPHUR; a sister, Ellen SULPHUR; three brothers, Andrew SULPHUR, Willie SULPHUR, and James SULPHUR; and a half-brother, Alex SULPHUR. His survivors include his daughters, Louella NISWONGER of Checotah, Channena DAVIS of Hanna, Patricia BELFORD of Norman, Linda JOHNSON of Wewoka, Sylvia REININGER of Oklahoma City, and Sandra GODDARD of Newkirk; his sons Elwood SULPHUR, Leroy SULPHUR, and Woodrow SULPHUR, Jr., all of Eufaula; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
