She died January 18, 1997, at Loma Linda Medical Center. At her request, no funeral services were held and the family requested memorials and contributions be made to Murrow Indian Children’s home in Muskogee, OK. She was an original enrollee and had lived on the Monterey Peninsula for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major George LEGGAT. Her survivors include her sister, Wilma KELLY of Marina, CA; a half-sister, Erla COX of Tyler, TX; a half-brother, Cecil GATLIN of Claremore; her two daughters, Betty DEVLIN of Yuma, AZ, and Billye GIROTTI of Monterey; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
