She died March 12, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Wake services were on March 15 at the home, with Yuchi Tribal Speaker Newman LITTLEBEAR officiating. Funeral services were held March 16 at Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Newman KELLY officiating. Pallbearers were Daniel WOLFE, Ronald HILL, Russell HILL, Craig CASSADAY, Darby CASSADAY, and Eugene FREEMAN; honorary pallbearers were Luther TIGER, Paul TIGER, Cecil TIGER, Bill GIBSON, Tim BROWN, Rudy THOMAS, Gary THOMAS, and Mike HAMMER. Interment was in South Heights Cemetery. She attended Haskell and Eufaula Boarding schools. She was direct decendent of Yuchi Chief Samuel W. BROWN, Sr. She was a homemaker. She married Riley JOHN, deceased, in 1935. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Legus G. and Esther M. BROWN, her son Riley JOHN; and 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three daughters, Juanita BOWMAN, Wanda HILL, and Jeniece WOLFE, all of Sapulpa; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
