WOOD was born December 12, 1966, in Claremore, but lived all his life in Sapulpa. He died April 29, 1988, at his home. Prayer services were held May 2 and the funeral services were conducted May 3 by Rev. Paul NICHOLS, Rev. Jonas PARTRIDGE, and Rev. Tom LONG. Both services were held at the Pickett Indian Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Kelly NICHOLS, Paul NICHOLS, Jr., David BROOD, Henry HUGHES, Randel HOUSTON, and Mike HOUSTON. Honorary pallbearers were the coaches of Sapulpa High School. Interment was at the Hardridge Family cemetery, south of Sapulpa, under the direction of Owen Funeral Home. He had been an outstanding athlete and active in both football and baseball at Sapulpa High School where he was a 1985 graduate. He was injured in a diving accident in the summer of 1984, and as a result became a paraplegic and respiratory dependent until his death at age 21. He is survived by his mother, Frances WOOD, of the home; stepfather Roy Joe VANZANT of Sapulpa; step grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.M. VANZANT of Willow; his brothers Jim DeGRAFFENREID of Sapulpa, and Kenneth WOOD of Oklahoma City; and his sisters Carrie WATTS and Julie WOODS, both of Sapulpa.
