He died April 16, 1991. Funeral services were held April 19 at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jonas PARTRIDGE officiating. Burial was in the South Heights Cemetery. He attended Lone Star and Euchee Mission Indian School in Sapulpa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Army of Occupation Medal and Victory Medal. He also served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. He moved to the Creek Nation Elderly Housing Complex in 1981. His survivors include one daughter, Sharon HARRIS of Okmulgee; a brother, Newman HELTON of Sapulpa; three sisters, Wanda CHAVEZ of Naples, IL, Catherine EVANS of Kiefer, and Mildred BETTIS of Tucson, AZ; and three grandchildren.
