He died January 27, 1991, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held January 30 at the Thleqarle Indian Baptist Church with Rev. George BUNNY and Rev. Richard Eastman WHITLOW officiating. No information was given on the place of interment. He was a retired school superintendent, a former director of Indian Education for Oklahoma and a former executive director for Creek Nation. He was a member of the Glorietta Indian Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and the Masonic Lodge. He had been a pilot with the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was shot down and held as a prisoner of war in Germany for two years. He was the son of Mose and Mariah Robison WILEY, both deceased. He married the former Billy Jean TAYLOR on September 26, 1939, in Dustin. She preceded him in death April 5, 1989. His survivors include his son, David Mose WILEY of Ada; his two daughters, Tresha BROCK of Oklahoma City and Patsy SCHMIDIKOFER of Earlsboro; two brothers, Louis “Speedy” WILEY of Tecumseh and Charles WILEY of Mannford; three sisters, Leatrice COACHMAN of Oklahoma City, Francis MILLER of Weleetka, and Etta Jean CONNERS of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
