He died in July, 1993. Funeral services were held July 27 at the South Heights Baptist Church, where he was a member. Pallbearers were Michael GIBBS, Douglas GIBBS, Leslie GIBBS, Deon GIBBS, Clint NEW, Aaron DUNN, and Bill RICE. Burial was at the South Heights Cemetery. He was employed by Tulsa Regional Medical Center as a surgery medical technician while attending nursing college at the Univesity at Tulsa, Langston campus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Viet Nam. He was active in the bus ministry at South Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, George Hunter GIBBS, Sr., and one daughter, Rachel GIBBS. He married the former Rita Ann NEW, who survives. He is also survived by his mother, Mollie Grayson GIBBS of Sapulpa; his children, James GIBBS, George GIBBS, and Romana GIBBS, all of the home; brothers, John GIBBS, Robert GIBBS, Leon GIBBS, and David GIBBS, all of Sapulpa, Sandy GIBBS, George GIBBS, and Jack GIBBS, all of CA; sisters, Mona and Mary (no last names given), both of Sapulpa; and two grandchildren.
