He died November 13, 1993, in Okemah. Funeral services were held November 16 at Nuyaka Baptist Church, where he was a member. Officiating the service were Rev. Wilson HICKS and Rev. Gene HARJO. Interment was in Montesoma Cemetery. He served in the U.S. Army, 22nd Infantry, and received the Purple Heart, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He was the son of Austin and Parlie Bear JONES, both deceased. He was married to Mary Yahola JONES, who is also deceased. He is survived by his children, Sally GOOD VOICE, Pauline RABBIT, Linda MINTER, Paul JONES, Fred JONES, and Walter JONES, all of Okmulgee, Jimmie JONES of Eufaula, Esther JONES of Okemah, and Loper JONES of Shawnee; a sister, Stella ROBERTS of Okemah; brothers, Elmer JONES of Morris and Harry DOUGLAS of Okemah; 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
