She died August 27, 1994, at St. Francis Hospital at Tulsa. Funeral services were held September 1 at Prairie Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Joe SMITH and Wallace GAMBLER officiated the service. Pallbearers were her sons and grandsons. Interment was in Hillabee Cemetery. She attended Eufaula Boarding School and graduated from Chilocco Indian School. She worked as a laundry attendant and was later employed with the Wrangler Corporation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roley and Millie Roberts LONG; her husband, Lloyd HICKS, whom she married in 1953 in Hanna; a brother, Sonny FIELDS; and a sister, Bessie NEVAQUAYAH. Her survivors include her three sons, Roy HICKS of Okemah, Lloyd HICKS of Okmulgee, and Noah TIGER of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Verlayne GAMBLER of Okemah; one brother, Dave LONG of Okemah; 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren,, nieces, nephews, several other relatives and many friends.
