He died January 18, 1994, at Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were held January 22 with Rev. Bill MILLER officiating. Interment was in the Holdenville Cemetery. He attended Holdenville High School and was a member of the 45th Division during World War II, serving with the Service Battery 171st Field Artillery. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 539 in Henryetta. He had also served on the Muscogee Nation Farm Authority Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Nancy Tiger LEADER; two sisters, Alice LEADER and Lizzie BRUNER; two brothers, Lenix LEADER nd John LEADER; and two great-granddaughters, Charity KIBBY and Megan LEADER. He was married to Mable CLARK November 6, 1937, in Mounds. She survives. His other survivors include his children and their spouses, Nancy LEADER of the home, and Terry and Billy KIBBY of Wetumka, David and Marilyn LEADER of Laytonville, CA; five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
