Thomas Jefferson LONG was born October 31, 1925, in Holdenville. He died September 5, 1994, in a Tulsa hospital. Funeral services were held September 9 at Salt Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy BIGPOND and Rev. Harry LONG officiating. Pallbearers were Eric BEATTY, Farrell BLACKBARREL, Paul BLACKBARREL, Jr., Micah WOLFE, Toby WATASHE, Heston LONG, Matthew MESSER, and Alex WOLFE. Interment was in Newtown United Methodist Church Cemetery. He was a Methodist minister, retired after 35 years in the ministry. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Honey Creek United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie WOLFE; a daughter, Karen LONG; a grandson, Brian BEATTY; and a sister, Christie HANCE. His survivors include five daughters, Vicky WATASHE, Minnie WOLFE, and Sidney LONG, all of Okmulgee, Thomasine LONG of Mounds, and Lou Ann MESSER of Muskogee; two sons, Bob LONG of Okmulgee, and Guy LONG of Tulsa; three brothers, Harry LONG of Seminole, and Nathan LONG and Maxie KNIGHT, both of Holdenville; and 12 grandchildren.
