She died January 18, 1994, at Tucson (AZ) Medical Center. Funeral services were held February 2 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Rev. Paul SAMUELS officiating. Pallbearers were Edwin MOORS, Tom DONAHOE, Woody WILSON, Curtis WILSON, Rex HARNER, and Joe PARKER. Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery. She graduated from Haskell Indian School and worked for 47 years with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Fife Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Fred SHIELDS of Tucson; a daughter-in-law, Rita SHIELDS of Tucson; three sisters, Lydia NELSON of Eufaula, Lizzie LEWIS of Checotah, and Effie HOMERATHA of Oklahoma City; two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
