He died February 20, 1994 at Heritage Nursing Home in Muskogee. Funeral services were held February 22 at Broken Arrow United Indian Methodist Church, where he was a member. Officiating the service were Rev. Roy BIGPOND and Rev. George MILLER. Pallbearers were Harry PERRYMAN, Lewis PERRYMAN, Cecil LOWE, Kenneth CHILDERS, Samuel BUSH, and Mickey PRIMEAUX. Honorary pallbearers were Freeman MARSHALL, Harley WALDRUP, Zoal STRINGER, Andrew LOWE, Bert FOSTER, and Monk BECK. Interment was in the Vernon Cemetery. He retired from Braden Winch in 1983. He was with the Army 221st Headquarters 90th Infantry Division at Normandy during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star, three Bronze Service Stars, and a Purple Heart. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and served two terms as a Wagoner-Rogers-Mayes District representative in the Muscogee (Creek) National Council. He was the son of Lewis and Sally Carr THOMAS, both deceased. He was survived by his wife, Ruby Faye Hakes THOMAS of the home; his two sons, Randy THOMAS and Thomas THOMAS, both of Coweta; his daughter, Suzanne Denise SMITH of Coweta; a sister, Christine Wylley SMITH of Broken Arrow; and five grandchildren, Randy, Ronnie, Brandon, and Lawanna THOMAS, and Nicole SMITH.
