He died November 10, 1994, at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Funeral services were held November 14 at St. Mark’s On-The-Mesa Episcopal Church. No information was given on the place of interment. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd degree Mason in the Oklahoma Chapter. He retired in 1970 after 37 years of employment with the U.S. Public Health Service, Indian Health Service. His father was principal chief of the Creek Nation from 1935-1939. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roley and Annie Carr CANARD. He is survived by his wife, Ruth S. CANARD; his sons, Robert L. CANARD and Rogers V. CANARD; his daughters, Linda C. DOERING and Patricia C. POSTON; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a brother, Curtis L. CANARD.
