He died May 23, 1995. Funeral services were held May 26 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Special music for the service was provided by relatives. His niece, Grace SMITH of Edmond, played an original composition “Whisper on the Land”. She was accompanied by her daughter, Andrea SMITH. Interment was in Greenhills Memorial Gardens. He attended boarding school at Euchee Mission and was an all-state guard and co-captain of the 1939 Sapulpa Chieftain football team. He served in World War II in New Guinea and Australia as a machine gunner in the 101st Airborne Rangers. He was a long time employee of Oklahoma Gas and Electric and retired in 1984 from the U.S. Postal Service. He was the son of Adam and Melissa Kanard WILEY, both deceased. He is survived by his daughters, Karla FLEMING of Sapulpa, and Linda HAMMOND of Ada; brothers, Harmon WILEY of Miami, and Adam WILEY of Los Angeles; his grandchildren, Melissa FLEMING of Amarillo, TX, Kristin FLEMING of Stillwater, and Heather HAMMOND and Jason HAMMOND, both of Ada.
