Town of Pawhuska, Osage Reservation, Oklahoma To all to whom these presents shall come, greeting: Whereas, the act of Congress approved March 3, 1905 (33 Stats., 1048, 1061), provides for the creation of an Osage Townsite Commission, consisting of three members, one of whom shall be the United States Indian Agent at the Osage Agency; and Whereas, the undersigned were constituted a Commission under said provision; and Whereas, said act further provides that the Secretary of the Interior shall reserve from selection and allotment the south half of section four and the north half of section nine, township twenty-five north, range nine east, of the Indian Meridian, as the townsite of Pawhuska, except certain parcels of land therein mentioned; and Whereas, said act further provides that said townsite shall be surveyed and appraised and laid off into lots, blocks, streats, and alleys, and the lots thereunder sold by the said Townsite Commission; and Whereas, said act further provides that any person, church, school, or other association in possession of any of said lots, and having permanent improvements thereon, shall have a preference right to purchase the same at the appraised value; and Whereas, J. R. Pearson was in possession of the lot or lots herein described and had permanent improvements thereon at the date of said act of Congress, and has paid the appraised value of said lot or lots: Now, therefore, we, W. L. Miller, Ret Millard, and Julian Trumbly, constituting the Osage Township Commission, by virtue of the power and authority vested in us by the said act of Congress and by the Secretary of the Interior, have granted and conveyed, and by these presents do grant and convey, unto the said J. R. Pearson all the right, title, and interest of the United States and the Osage Indians in and to the following lots in the townsite of Pawhuska, Osage Reservation, to wit, Lot ten (10) and west half (1/2) of eleven (11) of Block Sixty-six (66); Lot one (1), thirteen (13) fourteen (14), fifteen (15), and sixteen (16) of Block no. one hundred and three (103) to have and to hold the same unto the said J. R. Pearson, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns forever, subject, however, to the provisions of the said act of Congress and to the approval of the Secretary of the Interior.
