Pearson - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Office of Indian Affairs Land Division ________________, 190_ Recorded in Deed Book, Osage Indian Lands, Vol. ____, page _____ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - State of Oklahoma Osage County The within instrument was filed for record on the 2 day of Mar, 1909 at 2 o'clock p.m. and recorded in Book 3HD on page 366 TM Broaddus Register of Deeds. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Homestead Deed Osage Reservation, Oklahoma Allotment No. 1682 To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting: Whereas, The act of Congress approved June 28, 1906, entitled "An Act for the division of the lands and funds of the Osage Indians in Oklahoma Territory, and for other purposes" (34 Stat. L., 539), provides that all the lands belonging to the Osage Tribe of Indians in Oklahoma, except as therein provided, shall be divided among the members of said tribe; and Whereas, Said act of Congress further provides that each member of the tribe may make three selections of land of one hundred and sixty acres each; and that after these selections have been made each member of the tribe may designate which selection shall be his homestead, and that the certificates of allotment and deeds shall designate the homestead selection; and Whereas, The Osage Allotting Commission, as provided for in the sixth subdivision of section 2 of the act, has certified that the land hereinafter described has been designated by or on behalf of Rose E. Pearson, a duly enrolled and recognized member of the Osage tribe, as his homestead; and Whereas, Section 8 of the act provides that all deeds to said Osage lands, or any part thereof, shall be executed by the Principal Chief of the Osages, but no such deed shall be valid until approved by the Secretary of the Interior: Now, Therefore, I the undersigned, Principal Chief of the Osage Tribe of Indians, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the said act of Congress have granted and conveyed, and by these presents do grant and convey, unto the said Rose E. Pearson all right, title, and interest of the United States and the Osage Tribe of Indians in and to the following- described lands situated on the Osage Reservation in Oklahoma, to wit: East Half of South West quarter of Section One (1); North Half of North West quarter of Section Twelve (12); all in Township Twenty five (25) North, Range seven (7) East of the Indian Meridian. Containing 160.00 acres, more or less, according to the Untied States survey thereof, to have and to hold the same unto the said Rose E. Pearson, her heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, forever; subject, however, to all the conditions, limitations, and provisions of said act of Congress, one of which is that the homestead selection shall be inalienable and nontaxable until otherwise provided by act of Congress, and all mineral in said land is reserved to the Osage tribe of Indians for the period of twenty-five years from and after the eighth day of April, 1906. In Witness Whereof, I, the Principal Chief of the Osage Tribe of Indians, have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of October, 1908. Peter C.
