All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** SMITH -- passed away from this life on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 after a six- year battle with cancer. He was born December 26, 1932, the fourth child to Velta (Andrews) and John M. Smith, on his grandad's Albert "Pete" Smith's home place at Red Rock, OK. John grew up on his parents' dairy/wheat farm west of Ponca City. Shortly after graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army Aircraft Division, 99th Battalion at Gross Point, MI, during the Korean Conflict. He married Jayne Files-Huskey on February 14, 1967 in Hominy, OK. John was employed at American Airlines for 34 years, retiring as CC Chief in January, 1991 and co-owner of B.S.B. Company. He is survived by: his wife, Jayne; daughter, Teresa Smith-McMahon; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Mary Huskey; 2 granddaughters, Alison and Chandler Huskey, all of Tulsa, OK; 2 sisters, Shirley Osborne-Barber of Hillsboro, OR and Lois Skaggs of Ponca City, OK. He is preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, V.A. "Sonny" Smith.
