She was one of six children. She is preceded in death by her first husband John Waycott; son Donald; sisters Betty Madaris and Ann Keene; brothers Paul and William Luther. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Tingen and husband Edward of Riverside, California; her son Robert and wife Barbara of Canyon Country, California; daughter-in-law LaVon Godwin of Lakeport, California; five grandchildren Juanita and husband Donald Caperton of Layton, Utah, John Waycott and wife Susan of Phoenix, Arizona, Lynda Davis and husband Michael of Acton, California, William Waycott and wife Nancy of Castaic, California, and Gregory Waycott and wife Paula of Adairsille, Goergia; nine great grandchildren Ginny, Robert, Rebecca, Christopher and Adam Waycott, Ivy Rose Davis, Jason Caperton and wife Jamie, Marie Caperton, Neil Caperton; and Ruth’s first great great grandchild Briquelle Caperton. From early childhood Ruth moved with her family to various states while her father was a contractor for the railroad. She attended San Fernando High School graduating from the high school in Ontario, California. Later she attended Chaffey College in Ontario, California. She was an entrepreneur, owning a market in Burbank in the early 1940’s and in the late 1940’s became one of the first women real estate salespersons; actively selling tract homes after WWII to the burgeoning Veteran’s market and later one of the first women selling commercial and industrial buildings in the San Fernando Valley. A lifelong member of the San Fernando Valley Board of Realtors, she followed this career until her retirement in 1974; along the way helping many young couples owning their first home. After her retirement, Ruth lived in the Senior’s Community of Owensmouth Gardens in Woodland Hills, California, enjoying all the activities of this community and attending West Valley Unity Church every Sunday with friends and neighbors.
