The contributor has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OBITUARY: Elizabeth Jane Lack Rhea McCurdy Funeral services for Elizabeth Jane (Liz) McCurdy, 70, were held June 19 at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev . Mark Chenoweth officiating. She died June 17 at Okemah. Born Nov. 18, 1926 at Big Flat, Ark., to John Estill and Leona Mae Henry Lack, she moved with her family to the Sand Springs community, southeast of Okemah in 1936. She attended and graduated from Okemah High School in 1944. She married Tom Rhea of the Lone Star community in 1945 and to this union a son, Steven Craig was born. Tom died Feb. 10, 1964. Liz worked at the Okemah National Bank, Tulsa Federal Savings and Loan, then moved to Hemet, Calif. and was employed with American Savings and Loan until her retirement. She was an operations officer and in charge of public relations. She traveled to several foreign countries in her work and received several plaques. She married Marvin McCurdy in Los Angeles, Calif., July 24, 1971, and lived in Hemet until retirement and moved back to Okemah in 1991. She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church, serving on the budget and kitchen committees. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, John Ralph Lack, Kenneth C. Lack; C. Jennings Lack; and one sister, Helen Lack Smith. Survivors include her husband, Marvin, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Sheila Rhea of Glenpool; one granddaughter, Heidi Elizabeth Rhea, also of Glenpool; one sister and husband, Betty and Russ Danenhour of Okemah; one brother and wife, Henry and Winnie Lack of Tulsa; two step-granddaughters, Shana Balch and Mandi Reed of Sapulpa; one step-son, Dwight McCurdy of Norman; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lack, Wanda Lack and Kitty Lack, all of Tulsa; and Shirley Niko of laCrescenta, Calif., and numerous neices and nephews. Pall bearers were Greg Lack, Mike Lack, Johnny Lack, Dennis Lack, Scott Lack, Jeff Lack, Daryl Bean, Randy Jimenez, Dr. Cliff (Jumbo) Eaton, Randy Rutland and Danny Rutland. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Carroll, Press Johnson, Claude Palmer, Mack Thompson, Bill Campbell, Wes Thomas and J.B. Collins. Interment was at Highland Cemetery in Okemah.
