Don Lehman officiating. He died Sun., Nov. 2, at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa. He was born June 28, 1910, in Altus, the son of Pliny White and Linnie Lee (Watson) Roberts. He was a 1928 graduate of Okemah High School where he was class president his junior and senior years and a member of the debate team for four years and went to semi-finals in state contest in 1928. He was also a member of the Okemah Boy Scouts, North Methodist Church Rev. Jenkin’s Troop. He began his career with Public Service Co. in Okemah in 1928, first as an ice delivery man, office clerk and then meter reader. He was named PSO manager in Sand Springs in 1948, and in 1960 he became area manager for PSO in Duncan. In 1968 he was named assistant to the vice-president of the Tulsa division, a position he held until his retirement June 30, 1975. He served as president of Sand Springs Welfare Board, Salvation Army Advisory Board, American Legion Chaplain, president of San Springs Rotary Club; president of American Red Cross Advisory Board in Duncan, member of Duncan Rotary Club, president of the Southern Okla.. Northern Texas Assn. of Red Cross Chapters, member of Black Beaver Council of Boy Scouts in Lawton, member of Rotary Club in Tulsa where he was honored with a life membership after 27 years of perfect attendance in Rotary; president of American Cancer Society in Tulsa, Tulsa County Advisory Board, Tulsa Salvation Army Advisory Board, Tulsa Chamber of Commerce and chairman of New Member Indoctrination committee. He was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Okemah; Duncan First United Methodist Church, and Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Tulsa. He served these churches as chairman of many offices and boards. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Okemah, serving as Worshipful Master in 1940 and 1948. He was an honorary member of Sand Springs’ Masonic Lodge. He was elected Sand Springs’ Most Useful Citizens in 1956 in a Salvation Army newspaper poll. He was Past Worthy Patron of Okemah Chapter Order of Eastern Star and Worthy Advisor Okemah Chapter Order of DeMolay as a young man. He was in the military during World War II and served as surgical technician with Patton’s Third Army in Europe. He received a Good Conduct, European Theatre of Operation, and one Battle Star Ribbon decorations. He married Aldythe E. Cotner, Oct. 6, 1933, and the couple had two sons, Dr. Paul Edmond Roberts, MDPC, Baltimore, Md., and Carl Phillip Roberts, Okemah. She preceded him in death on April 17, 1977. He married Hazel Ann Nolen on Sept. 8, 1979, and was happy to receive a lovely stepdaughter, Judith A. Krc, Clayton, Calif. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Margia Noblin and an infant sister, and one brother, John Roberts. Survivors include his wife, Hazel, of the home in Tulsa,; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl P. Roberts and Jerry and Dr. Paul E. Roberts and Mary; one stepdaughter, Judy Krc; three brothers, Dr. Haskell Roberts, Denver, Penn., Pete Roberts, Portland, Ore., and George Roberts, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Sallie Trow, Okemah, and Noweta Melton, Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Terry Valadez, Sherry Gonzalez, Philip Roberts, Yasmin Roberts, Todd Krc, Tommy Krc and Kelly Krc, and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Nolan Adams, Todd Krc, Tommy Krc, Pat Martin, Brad Melton and Philip Roberts. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Maxwell, Merle Robinson and Bill Slepka. Interment was at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
