Born May 14, 1918 in Seminole, the third of six children to George and MaryEtta (Spurr) Killingsworth, pioneers of the town of Seminole, she was homecoming queen at Seminole High School in 1935 and graduated a year later. After graduating from The University of Oklahoma, she married Vance Weldon, Lt., U.S. Navy. She taught school before starting a family. After the arrival of her two sons, and with the demands of her husband’s job, she lived in several states and Canada. Wherever she lived, she was involved in the garden club and loved growing and arranging flowers. After retirement, she and Vance traveled extensively, even taking a trip down the Amazon River. In her later years, she moved to Tex. to live with her son, Michael. Charlotte’s gift of humor and joy of talking helped her to make several friends in Dallas. She found her niche during the day at a resident facility. She assisted by showing newcomers around; serving on the resident’s council and leading in her special way. Preceding her in death was her husband. Survivors include two sons, Mike Weldon and wife, Kathleen of Dallas, and Barry Weldon on (sic) Vinita; brother, John Killingsworth and wife, Norma Jean of Shawnee; sisters, Margaret Burns and George Etta Emerson of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Paul Weldon and wife, Wanda of Midwest City and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
