SWEAT Cemetery -- NW4 12-14N-1W, Oklahoma Co. OK Three miles north of Hwy 66 along the Indian Meridian, then a bit over 1/2 mile west. The topographical map shows this as the Sweat Cemetery. It's a small family plot that was located on the Willard P. Sweat homestead, in Deep Fork Township. It's known locally as the Friend family cemetery, because most of the burials there were members of his wife's family. In the spring of 1996, the following stones were completely legible: Daughter of Frank & Mellie Atteberry. Feb 20, 1898 Opal Atteberry (Daughter of Frank & Mellie Atteberry). Jan 30, 1905 - May 10, 1905. Rosa Etta Atteberry. 1862 - 1901 Thomas C. Friend. May 18 1833 - Jun 10, 1920 Malinda (Filbert) Friend, wife of Thomas C. Friend. Sept 22, 1837 - Aug 8, 1897. Della S. Kuntz. 1894 - 1951 Mark Lafayette. 1860 - 1940 Stella Elizabeth Sanders. 1900 - 1966 There were also two weathered ones (original hand-carved sandstone), which were almost illegible: Ella and Elorane. If any of these names are familiar, please contact me. I'm a descendant of T.C. and Malinda Friend.
