Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman. Burial will follow at Norman IOOF Cemetery. Havenbrook Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mrs. Appleby was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Oklahoma City, to Earl and Julia Heitz Grotts. She graduated from Norman High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. She married C. Edwin Appleby Sept. 28, 1940, in Norman. They lived in Norman before moving to Shawnee in 1953. They returned to Norman in 1970. Mrs. Appleby was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Shawnee. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motorhome, playing golf and playing bridge. She also was a seamstress and gardener. Mrs. Appleby was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leon and Gerald Grotts. Mrs. Appleby is survived by her husband, C. Edwin of the home; daughters, Edwina Appleby Wynn of Ponca City and Jan Appleby Barr of Norman; grandchildren, Stephanie Barr Stallsmith and husband, Jay, of Tulsa, Kristen Wynn Hallcroft and husband, Tim, of Oklahoma City, Stacy Barr Bruce and husband, Shannon, of Tulsa and Kyle Wynn and fiancée, Gina DeGiusti, of Beaumont, Texas; great-grandchildren, Reed and Ryan Stallsmith and Madison Bruce; and special nephew, Gordon Grotts and wife, Nancy, of Noble. Bearers will be Kyle Wynn, Tim Hallcroft, Jay Stallsmith, Shannon Bruce and Gordon and Craig Grotts.
