All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Atchison, Arthur Lee "Art" Arthur 'Art' Lee Atchison, age 69, of Edmond, was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Okla. City to Arthur and Ethel Atchison. Art attended the Univ. of Okla. for 3 years before graduating from Okla. City University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. He married Tommy Jean Maxwell on June 16, 1957 in Okla City. Art was an Advertising Account Exec. for over 40 years, having spent 11 years with OPUBCO then moving to Channel 4 until his retirement. After retiring Art still did consulting work for KSWO TV in Lawton. Art was an Edmond resident for 28 years and a member of the First Christian Church since 1974 where he was very involved in every aspect of his church including being an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Stephens Minister etc. He was past president of the Oklahoma City Advertising Club and Past President of The Edmond Rotary Club where he was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Art was a member of the American Women in Radio and Television and was an active volunteer in S.C.O.R.E. In his earlier years he was President of Toastmasters 301 and was also involved in Boy Scouts in the Order of the Arrow. Art passed away on July 11, 2002 in Okla. City. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by wife, Tommy Jean of the home; sons and daughters in law, Ernest Atchison of OKC, Chris and Eileen Callaway of OKC, Terry and Renee Callaway of Santa Clarita, CA; daughter, Velia Deal of Edmond; grandchildren, Shannon, Jeff, Stephen, Brock and Tommy Callaway, Andrea Jean and Cora Lee Deal; nephew, Marc Gershon of Littleton, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Lorene Gershon. Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Edmond.
