Maddox Autry, 98, Lawton, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the First Baptist Church, Fletcher, Oklahoma with Rev. Wes Larson, Harrison, Arkansas, Rev. Randy McFarland, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Fletcher and Dr. Charles Graves, Retired Baptist Minister of Oklahoma City officiating. Mrs. Autry died Sunday in a Lawton Retirement Center. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher, Oklahoma. She was born October 21, 1904 in Rhome, Texas to Rev. A.F. and Tenny Bell (Edwards) Whitlock. She moved to the Denton Community from Fort Worth, Texas at age 12. She married James Gilmer Maddox on January 1, 1927 in Lawton. They moved to Ponca City that same year. She worked as a Teacher for 25 years. She taught Sunday School in the Primary Department at the First Baptist Church in Ponca City. They later moved to Oklahoma City where her husband preceded her in death on March 12, 1980. She married Rev. Roy Autry in Oklahoma City on April 18, 1995. He died November 21, 2000. Mrs. Autry has lived in the Ten Oaks Retirement Center in Lawton for the last 4 years and was a member of the Surrey Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Survivors Include: 3 sisters: Mabel Keen, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Gladys Colclasure and Mary Ottinger, both of Fletcher, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Rev. Harold Whitlock, Hinton, Oklahoma, Bob Whitlock, Fletcher, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren: Cheryl Bullard, Tricia Larson, James Odell, David Odell, Michael Odell, Julie Odell, Patricia Kimray and Deborah Johnson; 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 2 children, Bob Maddox and Norma Odell, 2 sisters, Byrcha Harrel and Ruby Constant, 3 brothers, L.D. Whitlock, Roy Whitlock and Frank Whitlock. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
