She was born in Hollis, OK on September 23, 1919. She worked at Autolite Battery Co. and also as a cafeteria worker for the Oklahoma City Public Schools. Opal was a charter member of Rancho Village Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Will and Lilly Peevey, and son Danny McElfresh. Opal is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gilbert Armitage; daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren: Brenda, Mike, Mason, And Rhiannon Hensley of Mustang; three cousins: Wilford, Leon, and Vernon Herron of Oklahoma City; niece Carol McCall of Austin, TX; nephew David Armitage of Houston, TX and many friends. She loved her church and Sunday school class, working in her yard, feeding the birds and any other animals that might be hungry. The two things that brought her the most joy were her grandchildren, Rhiannon and Mason. We will miss our best friend, wife, mom and nanny, but we know we will all be together again in Heaven when the Lord takes us home. She has been blessed these last few weeks with wonderful caregivers. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the ninth floor of Southwest Medical Center, Windsor Hills Nursing Home and Preferred Hospice. Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at the South Colonial Chapel of Vondel Smith. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 6934 S.
