City, died July 22, 2002, ending a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born Nov. 25, 1943 in OKC, Dwight graduated John Marshall High School in 1961 and attended OU. He developed his high standards and leadership abilities as Pres. and Chaplin of the F.F.A., and member of Company C First Battalion of the Army Reserves. Dwight was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed his participating role in the early years of the OKC Stars and subsequent reorganization of the Blazers. He served as Goal Judge, Penalty Box Attendant and Statistician. Dwight retired from Local Federal Bank after 27 years, in which he started as a teller and advanced to Sr. Vice Pres. of the Mortgage dept. He was a Contract Mortgage Underwriter for G.E and Radian, having been assigned to North American Mortgage for the past 7 years. His exceptionally strong work ethic. For which he was known, was a mainstay throughout his life. He continued to work until April of this year. He is survived by his wife Saundra Dowdy-Basey, four son/stepsons, Larry Dwayne Jones and wife Staci, Jeff Netherton and wife Cathie, Jim Chapman Jr., Bob Dowdy and wife Kristie, six grandchildren, Nicholas and Jacob Dwight Netherton, Jonathan, Brianna, and Allyson Jones and Cory Dowdy. He is also survived by two brothers Dwanye Basey and wife Joy, of Norman. Larry Basey and wife Dela of OKC., nieces and nephew including Holly and Stephen Basey, Mandi Hahn, Amy, Cody and Betty Carlson, aunts and numerous cousins, and mother-in-law Juanita Selvidge. Dwight will be renunited in heaven with his parents Otha and Margaret Basey. Dwight's family and friends will remember and miss his humor, grace and gentle spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Britton Christian Church c/o Dwight Basey Memorial, at 922 NW 91, OKC, OK 75114, or hospice of Okla. County at 4534 NW Expressway, OKC, OK 75116. A memorial service will be held Thurs., Aug. 8 at 11:00 am. at Britton Christian Church.
