Born February 25, 1917 near Comanche, Oklahoma. A petite woman with a great zest for life, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her dog, Amber. She had a Bachelors degree from Southeastern State University and a Masters from the University of Oklahoma. She taught school in Oklahoma for 33 years, teaching second grade for many years at Sooner-Rose Elementary in Midwest City. She was a member of Sunnylane UMC in Del City and attended First Christian Church in Norman. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast in Del City with burial in Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, Oklahoma at 1:00 p.m. with Minister David Spain of the First Christian Church of Norman officiating. She is predeceased by her husband, T. Howard Bass, her parents, Joseph T. Crockett and Shuford Wooldridge and Stepmother Rilla Crockett, and her brothers G.P. and Eugene Crockett. She is survived by her children - son Joseph L. Bass and his wife Barbara of Suffolk, Virginia and daughters Marilyn A. Durbin and husband Alan C. of Norman and Carolyn S. Bass of Jonestown, Texas, as well as by her sister- in law Fleeta Bass of Clerburne, Texas. Mildred's grandchildren include grandson Captain Christopher H. Bass, U.S. Army, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; granddaughters Eveanne Vanessa Nielsen and her husband Mike of Austin, Texas; Joy Marie Rasmussan and Phil Obershaw of Leander, Texas; Carlene McMahan of Austin, Texas and Lisa Barrett and husband George of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Laura Cover and husband Evan of Phoenix, Arizona. Her great grandchildren include Caitlain Bass of Vero Beach, Florida, Philip Evan Obershaw of Leander, Texas and Ryan Barrett of Brentwood, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the MidDel School Foundation in Mildred's name.
