He was born in Hazard, KY to Lisle and Billie Boggs on October 22, 1922 and spent the majority of his childhood in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. While attending medical school at The University of Oklahoma, he met his wife, life-long companion, and soul mate, Betty Simpson Boggs. They were married in 1945 and remained together for over 60 years until her death in June of 2006. He received his medical degree in 1946 while in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was subsequently stationed in Japan following WW II. He completed his radiology training at Emory University and returned to Oklahoma where he practiced medicine until his death. He was one of the founding partners of Radiology Associates, the first radiology group in the state, and enjoyed his career in medicine profession. J.T. loved sports of any kind and was an avid OU fan. He supported the OU Atheltic Department wand proud ly donned his red and white attire as he attended numerous OU athletic events over the last 60 years. He loved to watch his children participate in sports whether he was simply observing or actively coaching. He was a loving husband and outstanding father to his four children. He inspried those around him by his gentle and caring demeanor and will greatly be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death his loving wife Betty S. Boggs; and survived by his sister, Juanita Boggs Heflin; his four children: James Thomas Boggs, Jr., Sarah Hermanns, John M. Boggs, M.D., David S. Boggs, M.D.; his eight frandchildren: Dacia Kallin, Parick Boggs, Jonathan Boggs, Meagan Boggs, Michael Boggs, Benjamin Boggs, Lyndia Boggs, and Evelyn Boggs; his son-in-law, Jan Hermanns; and his daughters-in-law, Amy Boggs and Camille Boggs. Services were held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to Casady School or The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.
