Pleasant Cemetery--Terre Haute IN Baldwin, Janet (Lathrop) Janet (Lathrop) Baldwin, 65, loving wife, mother and friend left this earth to join her Heavenly Father on, Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at her home in OKC from congestive heart failure/COPD. She was born in Terre Haute, IN, on Aug. 8, 1937 to Rev. Armon and Sarah Avis (Miller) Lathrop. Her father was a minister with the United Methodist Church. His work took the family all across the West and Midwest. Janet left home to attend Kendall College in Evanston, IL, and work at the Washington National Insurance Company. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. On March 26, 1961, she married Leonard, a career military serviceman. Her travels with him took them to many stateside Army bases as well as to Puerto Rico, and twice to Germany. They settled in OKC, OK, when Leonard retired from the Army in 1980. Jan loved her music and sang with the Sweet Adeline Chorus and Barbershop Quartet, while Leonard was on recruiting in Medford, Oregon. Her past times were volunteering with her children's schools, the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, and being a band parent. She was a genealogist and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was selected as the Oklahoma Grand Organist in 1993 along with being elected as Worthy Matron. Janet met no strangers, anywhere. Her mother, father and youngest sister, Karen Lathrop, preceded Janet in death. She is survived by her husband Leonard, two daughters, Cheryl Baldwin, Oklahoma City, and Patricia Muncy and her husband William Muncy Jr., Phenix City, AL; three granddaughters, Megan L, Amanda L. and Sarah A. Muncy; two sisters, Charlotte Faircloth, Donaldsonville, GA and Mary Lou Arrowood, Hendersonville, NC; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services were held February 21, 2003 in Terre Haute, IN at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Myrtle Masonic Lodge, 125 S.E 89th Street, OKC, on Thursday, February 27th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please memorial donations to Hospice Quality Care, Inc., 921 South Sooner Road, Del City, OK, 73110-2041.
