She was born in Hinton, OK on 1-16-1919 to J.B. and Elsie McNeely. She graduated from Capitol Hill High school in 1936. She married Lewis Bowlware, of Mustang, on 12-23-1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and loving husband Lewis. She is survived by her daughters, Doris Smith and husband Bobbie Ray, and Donna Baker and husband Doyle Lee of OK City; grandchildren Shelley Rae Vanover and husband Timothy, and Andrew Lewis Adams and wife Kristi; great grandchildren Jessica, Joshua, Jonathan and Jordan Vanover and Sarah and Hannah Adams. Virgie was a former member of Capitol Hill Christian Church; Capitol Hill HS Athletes of the 1930's, Southside Womens Church Bowling League, Auxiliary of 726th Military Police WWII Ass"n, and current member of Draper Park Christian Church where she and Lewis were instrumental in the formation of the Share-a-Pound Program which has donated almost 2 million pounds of food to various City relief organizations. Virgie had a zest for living and a love of life that she passed along to all who knew her. Everyone loved Virgie. When she was around, everyone had a good time. She was one of those rare people who never met a stranger, never had a bad day and always had a good attitude. She was the ultimate volunteer, always giving of herself and her time to help others. We will miss her greatly, but we will always remember her and words of wisdom that we fondly call "Virgie-isms". Virgie always told everyone to "live each day like it might be your last". She did. Memorials may be made to the Share-a-Pound Program at Draper Park Christian Church, 8500 S. Walker, OKC 73139. Funeral services will be held at Draper Park Christian Church, 2:00pm on Monday 2- 24-03, with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 6934 S.
