Services held on August 10th at Capitol Hill Funeral Home at 2 PM. He was born Feb. 15, 1921 in Hurdsfield, North Dakota. Doug lived a full and meaningful life. He served in the Army on the Supply Line to Russia in Iran during WWII. He was foreman of Austin Lumber Co. for over 20 years, and worked as a foreman for Swatek Construction Co. for the past 25 years. He was a very generous and kind man, always helping and serving others. His sense of humor and positive spirit will be missed greatly. Doug was loved dearly by family and friends alike. He was widely read and always had a 'Story 'to tell. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Faye; his only son Doug Jr. and daughter-in law Betty; his three grandkids, Nicole Alfrey of Denver, CO, Bryan Benshoof of Maryland, and, Margolyn Pratt of San Antonio, TX; his two great-grandchildren; Trevor Pratt of San Antonio, TX and Sophia Alfrey of Denver, CO.
