All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 11 May 2003 James Patrick Barker OKLAHOMA CITY — Graveside service for James Patrick "Pat" Barker, 67, Oklahoma City, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Marlow Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald L. Bernard officiating. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Smith & Kernke Funeral Chapel in Oklahoma City. Mr. Barker died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Oklahoma City. Local arrangements are under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, Marlow. Mr. Barker was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Oklahoma City to James and Josephina Barker. He grew up in Del City, graduating from Bishop McGuiness High School in 1953. Following high school, he enlisted in the Marines and later in the Navy. He married Nancy Harding Barker. He graduated from Central State University with a bachelor of science in criminal justice and a master of science in sociology. He did post-graduate work at Oklahoma University and taught at Oklahoma City Community College for 30 years. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jim Meredith, Olathe, Kan.; his stepmother, Margaret Louise Sullivan, Marlow; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Bessie Sullivan, Marlow; two sisters: Mary Sue Hayes and Williene Ford and her husband Ronald, all of Marlow; a granddaughter, Sydni Barker, Oklahoma City; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his special companion and caregiver, Phyllis Rodgers, of the home. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Sean Patrick Barker, and his parents.
