Britten, 68, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999. A wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary South. Requiem Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Garden of Christus. Mr. Britten was born in Groom, Texas and graduated from Price College in 1951. He served with the National Guard for 12 years and was a heavy construction equipment salesman for 32 years. For 15 years, he was a member of the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and was a member of The Men's Club. He married Ann Estridge in 1951 at Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Britten was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Britten and a granddaughter, Laura Britten. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dr. R.S. Britten of Ohio, Neil Britten of Edmond, and Robert Britten of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Gina West Shapiro of Oklahoma City; a sister, Joan Sanders of Amarillo; and six grandchildren.
