All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Havenbrook Funeral Home Obituary Dr. James David Biggs Dr. James David Biggs, 61, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed to Glory on Sunday, September 11, 2005, in Norman, after a sudden illness. A celebration of Jim's Life will be held at 6:30 P.M, Thursday, September 15, 2005, at Amity Lodge, 3415 Northwest 36th in Oklahoma City. Casual dress is suggested. Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Jim was born June 5, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Virgil and Nellie (Pope) Biggs. He grew up in Edmond, graduating from Edmond High School in 1962. He received a B.S. in Biology at Central State College, now the University of Central Oklahoma in 1966. He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and completed his Ph.D. in Zoology at the University of Oklahoma in 1976. Jim married Donna Rae Schroeder of Kingfisher on June 18, 1967. The couple lived most of their married life in Norman. Jim loved teaching and had taught at the University of Oklahoma as a graduate student, Oklahoma State University-OKC, Seminole State College, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City Community College and Southwestern Christian University. He also loved photography and Bible study. He enjoyed a number of hobbies including fishing, collecting fishing tackle, reading nonfiction, and collecting books. Jim was a member of Phi Sigma, Sigma Xi, Alpha Chi and Biological and Honor Fraternities. Jim was preceded in death by parents and infant brother, Virgil Lee Biggs. Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home; sister, Elaine Mitchell and husband Orville, of El Reno, OK; two nieces, Mindi Mitchell, of Oklahoma City, OK and Raimey Charles and husband, James, of Yukon, OK; nephew, Ryan Mitchell and wife, Devyn, of Beaumont, TX.
