All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Kingston Cemetery--Kingston OK Durant Daily Democrat 28 Mar 2005 Charles Franklin Burkham Charles Franklin Burkham was called home by the Lord on March 25th, 2005, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Charles was born Oct. 14, 1920, to the late Gilbert and Ola Mae Burkham in Old Woodville, Oklahoma, where he lived most of his early life and graduated from Woodville High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force immediately upon graduation where he served until the close of World War II. On Sept. 18, 1945, he and the former Oleta Buck were married in Oklahoma City where they made their home for years, always planning to return to Marshall County upon retirement. He owned and operated a successful garage and service station for years in Oklahoma City, was a certified license inspector for the city of Oklahoma City and later superintendent of Public Works for the town of Noble, Oklahoma, before retiring and returning to Marshall County, making his home in Kingston. He was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church where he was active until health problems entered. He loved Crosspoint Camp and spent many hours helping with building projects. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Oleta of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Marvin and G.A., and one sister Helen York. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Kingston United Methodist Church in Kingston. The Rev. Bruce Davis will officiate. Music will be arranged by the Kingston United Methodist Church Choir. Interment will be at Kingston Cemetery with Bill Buck, Jirl Buck, Royce Arnold, David Coxsey, Brett Carter and Cass Carter serving as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers are David Lee Coxsey, Chase Coxsey, Carl Buck, Melvin Smith, Al Prentice, James Headrick and the staff at Royal Crest Hospice. Family hour is from 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Watts Funeral Home in Kingston is handling arrangements.
