Caldwell passed away January 13, 2003, while visiting his daughter and her family in Wichita, Kansas. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Etta Mae Caldwell. He is also survived by his daughter, Carol Lee Burgtorf of Wichita, Kansas; his son, John W. Caldwell, Jr., of El Paso, Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Caldwell was born November 27, 1913 in Petoka, Illinois. He attended Iowa State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged. He lived in Del City, Oklahoma from January 1961 until December 2001. He was a member of Sunnylane United Methodist Church For 41 years, where he was active in United Methodist Men and the church choir. He retired from Mobil Oil Corporation in 1973, having worked in Clovis, New Mexico, Lubbock, Texas, Amarillo, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a member for more than 60 years of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Services will be 2 PM Friday, 01/17/03 at Sunny Lane United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
