All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Resurrection Cemetery--OKC OK Childers, Betty Lea Betty Lea Childers, was born September 27, 1924, in Cordell, OK, to LeRoy and Bessie Clayton. Betty passed from this life January 20, 2003, at the age of 78 years. She graduated from Cordell High School and the University of Oklahoma with a degree in journalism. After several years working as a reporter for The Daily Oklahoman and The Oklahoma Journal, she went to work as Administrative Assistant for The American Legion Department of Oklahoma where she retired in 1989 with 20 years of service. After retirement, she worked as an Avon representative; worked at the voting polls during state and city elections; and helped at her church with the newsletter. She was a longtime member of The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 12. Betty never met a stranger and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Clayton. Survivors include 3 daughters, Cindy Madewell, Paula Emberton and husband, Barney, and Kim Trippet and husband, Carl; step daughter, Diana Jennings; sister, Glenda Elliott; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 nieces; 1 nephew, and their families; and lifelong friend, Margaret Rateliff. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 24, 2003, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 6501 NW 23rd, Bethany, OK. Burial will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City. Viewing will precede services from 9:00 AM to 9:50 AM at the church.
